Clinging to the ROCK

This is my very first soft pastel painting. Although it is just a tree, it has inspired me for many years. It stood through multiple hurricanes and evena 4 ft flood in my yard in the Florida Keys. It was twice the size of any tree around and although it lost several limbs it kept reaching for the light and kept growing.
It merely did what it was created to do…glorify God while clinging to the rock where it was planted.
It inspired me to continue to cling to God, to stop striving so hard every day and to just be who God created me to be…and in the process allow His Light to strengthen me day to day and help me to grow closer and more like Him.
So I wonder…
Have you been trying to cling to things, relationships, a career or even religion?
Have you found yourself at times feeling off balance, like you might sink or drown?
Have you lost hope in your own efforts to make sense of your life and this world?
Has a recent storm drained you of your strength, your finances, and your faith?
Are you disillusioned or struggling to find hope?
If any of those questions sound like you, then you are not alone. I’ve struggled with the same feelings and found that a strong relationship with God through His son, Jesus Christ, restored me and gave me the strength to stand in faith in the midst of the rising flood waters from the multiple storms in my life.
“As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”
-Luke 6:47-49
You too can find the strength you need to overcome any situation if you will put your faith in Christ. By looking to God’s Word and depending on His Spirit living in you, you too can worship Him in the midst of any storm. “
CHOOSE TO SHINE”!
Keep your eyes on Christ and remember…
You are loved,
Becky
